Initial Training and Technical Assistance
Training for the Story Talk program is provided to both teachers and their local coaches. There are two training options. On-site Group Training and Coaching for up to 50 participants is available at a cost of $25,000 plus travel. A train the trainer option is available, again for up to 50 participants, at $37,000 plus travel.
Curriculum and Materials
The curriculum costs $3,000 per classroom. This includes required video tapes for coaching. Video equipment, estimated at $2,000 per school, would be extra.

Ongoing Curriculum and Materials
The only ongoing cost is for replacement of lost or damaged materials.
Coaches are experienced teachers who must budget time during the school day for coaching activities. If a train the trainer model is selected, a person will need to be designated to perform this function for a school.

Ongoing training and T.A. is customized to the school. It is recommended that a school have one day of group training per year and two coaching visits.

In this example, there will be two participating schools, each with 20 classrooms and 25 teachers, counting the coaches. The cost to implement Story Talk during the first year would be:
If each of the 40 classrooms in the two schools housed 30 students, the cost per student for Year 1 would be $127.
